Chakra Explanation - Seven chakras and what they mean

The origin and meaning of Chakra

To understand the word chakra we have to look at its origin and meaning. The word is derived from the Sanskrit word meaning “wheel” and when translated into Hindi it means “Wheel of spinning energy”. So it is a spinning wheel or vortex of energy that connect your spiritual auric field to the physical body. For an explanation of the auric field, you may be interested to read “What is Reiki and how does it work?“. It is much easier to understand when shown as a diagram (see below).

There are seven main chakras which correspond to areas on the physical body and regulate the flow of life force energy or “chi” (for an explanation of life force energy or “chi”, see “What is Reiki, and How Does it Work”).

If you consider the body, it has organs that function in certain ways for the overall wellbeing of the body, and are fed by the circulatory system. The chakras do a similar thing in that each draws in chi energy and then processes the different frequencies of energy, the overall purpose being for the wellbeing of the person.

If you would like to know more about what frequency each of the seven main chakra points corresponds to and regulates within the auric field, there is a lot of easily accessible information available on the internet. A great explanation is given by hinduwebsite.com.
